It's chilly outside and what's better than a nice bowl of chili on a chilly day? Any time I would crave Chili, I would always purchase it in a can from the store; but it never really gave me the chili on a chilly day vibe. One day I was watching my Christmas movies, and this one movie had a chili contest during the holiday festivities. All the homemade chilis looked so good, and I said to myself I want to learn how to make homemade Chili. So, I did my research on the ingredients and tried making homemade Chili and I just couldn't master it or create the perfect chili recipe; but I didn't give up. Finally, I tried one last time and that's when I did my happy dance. I was so excited and happy that my Chili came out so good, and all my family loved it as well; they really loved the extra spice I added. My Chili is really easy to make, and it doesn't take long to prepare at all. So, on your next chilly day, indulge into a bowl of Ari's Chili.

Ari's Chili

Ingredients:

  • 1lb of ground beef

  • 1/8 cup of finely chopped onions and green bell peppers mixed

  • 1 can of diced tomatoes 14.5 oz

  • 2 Tbsp of tomato paste

  • 1/4 tsp of minced garlic

  • 1 Tbsp of butter

  • 1/3 cup of Chicken broth

  • 1 cup of Beef broth

  • 1/8 tsp of brown sugar (optional)

  • 1 can of dark red kidney beans 15oz

  • 1 can of black beans 15oz

  • Thyme seasoning

  • Cumin seasoning

  • Natures seasoning

  • Chili powder

  • Onion powder

  • Garlic powder

  • Sazon (I do not use an entire packet)

  • Black pepper

  • Red pepper flakes

  • 1 pack of Chili seasoning

Directions:

  • First brown and chop your ground beef until it is fully cooked in a deep skillet or pot

  • Drain your ground beef and wipe out any excess grease out of your deep skillet or pot

  • Put your ground beef into a bowl and put it to the side

  • Next melt your butter in your deep skillet or pot on medium heat, then add your minced garlic and chopped onions and green bell peppers mixture and stir

  • Once your chopped onions and green bell peppers are tender, add your ground beef back to your deep skillet or pot

  • Now you want to season your ground beef and chopped onions and green bell peppers to your liking with thyme seasoning, cumin seasoning, natures seasoning, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, sazon, black pepper, and red pepper flakes; then mix it all together until its well-blended

  • Next add your diced tomatoes, tomato paste, dark red kidney beans, and black beans; then stir and mix well

  • Once that is all mixed up, add your chicken broth and beef broth (you can use as little or as much as you want depending on your desired chili consistency)

  • Stir and mix everything until it is well blended to your liking

  • Next add your packet of chili seasoning and brown sugar (optional), then stir

  • Taste your chili to make sure it's to your liking, if needed you can adjust your seasoning to get your desired taste (this is when I add more chili powder and red pepper flakes for that extra spice)

  • Now that you have your desired taste, let your chili simmer on low heat for about 5 - 10 minutes while occasionally stirring

  • After you let your chili simmer, give your chili one more good stir

  • Serve your chili and top it with your favorite toppings

Enjoy!
